“Xavier Tillman Student-Athlete Training Initiative Grant”
Xavier & Tamia Tillman have joined forces with Alpha Human Performance to create a Scholarship for student-athletes to take part in sports performance training and recovery at AHP.
The purpose of this initiative is to give high school student-athletes the opportunity to apply and gain access to sports performance training at Alpha Human Performance while also taking part in community volunteering efforts in the Grand Rapids community.
What the Scholarship Initiative covers:
The “training scholarship” will fund an athlete’s ability to take part in training at Alpha Human Performance in our high school “Next Level” training program. This would include:
3 month training period at Alpha Human performance in our Next Level Class
Access to 6 Recovery Lounge sessions at AHP during that time period
Select student-athletes who are eligible to apply:
High School Student-Athletes grades 9-12
Student-Athletes who participant in any sport
Male or Female student-athletes
Academic GPA will not be a required eligibility standard. This is because we believe that sport and training can be a way for those that are academically challenged to focus and do better academically. Sport can be used as a vehicle towards higher and more successful academic career, and the training for sports builds work habits that can be used as a way to get on track academically during educational struggles.
How to apply
More than just trying to “apply and win”, the process to apply is quite unique. It involves tapping in to Xavier’s sense of gratitude, passion and service. Applicants must do the following to apply for the Xavier Tillman Student-Athlete Training Initiative Scholarship:
Each applicant will fill out a basic inquiry form of personal bio information such as current school, family household dynamics, extracurricular activities, etc.
Each applicant will also Submit a short essay about WHY they play their sport (passion, motivations, personal reasons, etc)
Applicants will be considered and chosen once evaluated by Mr & Mrs Tillman and Alpha Human Performance. Applications and Essays will be taken 4 times throughout the year with 4 athletes selected throughout a calendar year.
Obligations of student-athletes chosen
Each of the Student-Athletes who are selected for this training scholarship throughout the year must satisfy the following parameters:
Agree to train at Alpha Human Performance a minimum 2 times per week during the cycle of their membership scholarship.
Take part in a locally designated volunteer effort at a west-Michigan charity or community program such as kids food basket, God Kitchen etc. This connection will be made for them via resources of Alpha Human Performance
Agree to provide a brief summary to the Tillmans at the conclusion of their membership about their experience during their training and giving back to their community.
We believe the “Xavier Tillman Student-Athlete Sports Performance Training Initiative” is an excellent way for student-athletes to use love and passion for their sport, the discipline of preparing for their sport through sports performance training, and active participation to their community as a way to support athletes in building a positive, successful lifestyle.
