In-Season Training for ATHLETES MATTER:

STOP LOOSING YOUR PERFORMANCE GAINS FROM OFF SEASON TRAINING!! Train In-Season.

Athletes if you want to perform at optimal levels throughout your season, you have to continue to train DURING the season (Yes, DURING THE SEASON). The performance gains in strength, Speed and Conditioning that you build over the course of off-season training must be still be trained during your competitive season.

Many athletes train in the off-season season, but STOP training once the season begins. With the exception of practices, often there is little attention paid to strength, speed or explosive training during the season.

The fear of “over training” or “not enough time” is usually why training stops once the season starts.

You wouldn’t have a great healthy breakfast, then once the day begins NOT eat the rest of the day. So why have a GREAT off-season of training only to NOT train once the in-season starts?

At Alpha we are STRONG proponents of IN-SEASON TRAINING.

Here are some tips to for utilizing in-season training to maximize your competitive season no matter what sport you play:

⏺ Create an in-season schedule such as strength 2-3 times per week and speed-agility/conditioning 1-2 times per week

⏺ Make in-season strength training times short (30-45 mins)

⏺ Modify strength loads so you don’t handle SUPER heavy loads too close to game day

⏺ Be selective in your exercises for strength training and add variety between dumbbells, barbells, plate loaded machines, etc.

⏺ In working on speed and agility, focus on short quickness drills and tools such as agility ladders, Zoids, mini-hurdles, etc.

⏺ Maximize recovery between practice sessions and training by utilizing quality nutrition.

At Alpha we believe that the best athletes are year-round training athletes!

Training in-season not only helps create performance gains but also decreases the chances of injury. (We have a GREAT in-season program at Alpha that includes Recovery!)

TRAIN IN-SEASON TO KEEP YOUR GAINS!!
