Rely on Discipline NOT Motivation

My wife told me during our daily walk a couple of days ago that she heard a phrase in a podcast recently that caught her attention.

It was “Rely on DISCIPLINE, do not rely on MOTIVATION. This can apply to so many things in our lives where day to day motivation comes and goes. If we are only doing things when we are motivated, this can be a HUGE problem.

Some days we feel like a million bucks, and things like training, exercise and running come naturally. But what about those unmotivated days? . Be DISCIPLINED and do it anyways.

If the only thing that’s stopping you in the moment from doing what you need to do is that you “don’t feel like it”, or “you’re not motivated”, DO IT ANYWAYS. I’ve had plenty of workouts over the years where the motivation was lacking to get started.

But the “longest journey begins with a single step”, so take the first step with the help of DISCIPLINE. You just have to take that first step to begin.

Choose to be DISCIPLINED vs being just MOTIVATED.
