Creating a better mindset towards Food & Fueling

Alpha Registered Dietician and Performance Trainer Kara Mocklar believes strongly in balanced nutrition, but doesn’t think it has to be this rigid mentality of only eat “this and that”. Her philosophy when it comes to daily nutrition is, “flexibility and helping you determine what's healthy for YOU”.

My past experiences with fueling would lead me into a mindset of only eat this, only drink this that, and honestly it was exhausting. It was exhausting because I’m not an expert on nutrition, so I thought the stricter the better. After all, the human body is the most highly functioning “machine” on the planet and it requires top tier strict fueling guidelines right?? Not necessarily.

Kara can speak to this topic of nutrition far better than I can, since my fueling experience is simply that of a “food consumer”. But I can speak to the affect of having an awesome resource like Kara to aid in helping me to create a healthy creative mindset towards Food and fueling.

She was able to help steer me towards how I thought about food as less rigid and strict, and more as something that creates great “fueling opportunities” in my daily life. In our many conversations, She was able to give me an “outline” of what a performance nutrition day looked like (game day!) and what was great fueling for repairing the body post-competition (recovery day!).

Kara told me that nutrition doesn’t have to be this strict “end all, be all”. It can be something that fits into the framework of your life. Create a better mindset towards food and fueling and watch you life style change for the better!
